Artemis Journal 2026
Ends on
"ORIGINS" January 1 - March 1, 2026
As Artemis Journal approaches its 50th Anniversary in 2026, we honor not only where we began, but the deeper idea of origins—the places, voices, and sparks that shape who we become.
Artemis was born in the basement of the Roanoke YWCA, where storytelling helped women reclaim power, healing, and self-expression. That spirit of emergence still guides us.
For our 50th Anniversary, we invite artists and writers to explore their own beginnings: the roots that ground us, the moments that transformed us, the mentors and communities that uplifted us, and the stories and artthat help us rise.
This theme welcomes personal, cultural, natural, and mythic interpretations of ‘origin.’ We encourage work that reflects resilience, renewal, awakening, and the creative forces that move us from silence into voice.
